We're in need of help. We were impacted by hurricane wilma but never considered ourselves victms until the recovery process failed. We were denied assistance from FEMA and just about every local agency in our area, including DCF, workforce the community centers, United and the list goes on. Our house was damged to the point of no repair and being renters we were not considered significant enough to assist. we lost our home and spent 6 months homeless. We began to get on our feet before the holidays but can't seem to get out of this pit. I am disabled and recovering from having my back rebuilt. I had 2 discs removed and replaced with artificial disc and had 2 rods and 6 screws inserted for support. My husband was involved in a comapny wide layoff after being there for 7 years. we have 3 children and are in dire need of some assistance, any amount small or large would be a bleesing. We have been berated, ridiculed, chastised and treated as 2nd class citizens in a community which we called home. We're just trying to get on our feet and have some sort of foundation to build off of, we face being homeless once again and no relief in site. I have been awaiting social security disability for 2 years and am fearful that my kids will have to relive our experience from last year. This is not just a cry for help but a cry for survival.
